On Thursday, December 16, OnePlus presented its latest headphones. The Buds Z2 not only look good, they are also supposed to stand out in terms of technical issues AirPods Pro alternative can claim. The buds cost just 100 euros. But are active noise cancellation and other useful features enough to outperform Apple?

OnePlus Buds Z2 – the new AirPods Pro alternative

The AirPods Pro alternative from OnePlus has been available in Europe for just 100 euros since yesterday. They are currently only available in white, but a black version should come onto the market as early as next year.

The OnePlus Buds Z2 look very similar to their predecessor, but a lot has changed inside. The new model sometimes has an active noise suppression system. This means that the headphones are not only more or less soundproof, but also block out ambient noise by means of counteracting frequencies.

The new AirPods Pro alternative can also score points in terms of battery life. If the noise cancellation is activated, the buds will last a good five hours. You can use it for seven hours when the system is not active. You can also charge it for around five hours of listening pleasure within ten minutes. The case’s 520 mAh battery can be charged via USB-C and, according to OnePlus, should last around 38 hours.

The sound is crucial

In terms of sound quality, there shouldn’t be any major differences to the previous model, according to GSMArena. After all, the design has hardly changed and it remains the same as before with 11 mm speakers. The manufacturer states that the AirPods Pro alternative supports Bluetooth 5.2 and Dolby Atmos, offers 40 dB noise reduction and is IP55 dust and waterproof.
