Almost nine million travelers used the bus in October in Aragon

Aragon registered a total of 8,966,000 bus passengers in October, which is 26.9% more than in the same month of the previous year. The Community is thus the sixth region in which urban bus transport has increased the most, according to data published this Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

All the autonomous communities present positive annual rates in bus transport. The highest increases occurred in Región de Murcia (70.8%), Comunidad de Madrid (35%) and Andalucía (33.3%). For their part, the Basque Country (11.9%), Extremadura (13.6%) and the Canary Islands (16.6%) registered the lowest increases in bus transport.

At the national level, more than 353.8 million passengers used public transport in October, 34.6% more than in the same month of 2020. Urban transport increased by 36.1% in the annual rate and interurban a 38.6%. Within the interurban, the increase of 124.8% in air transport stands out.

Transportation by metro increased 48.2% in the annual rate. The Seville metro presented the largest increase, 74.6%, and the Bilbao metro the smallest, 19.7%.

Special and discretionary transport

More than 40.9 million users used special and discretionary transport in October, which represents an increase of 19.4% in the annual rate.

The number of passengers in special transport decreased by 2.2% and exceeded 30.6 million users. Within this, the school drop by 2.4% and the work by 1.3%.

For its part, discretionary transport grew 254.1% compared to the same month in 2020, with more than 10.2 million travelers.
