AMD looks at photonic technology to transmit data between chips at the speed of light

Thus, it is now known that AMD is analyzing photonic technology for transmitting data between chips at the speed of light. And this possibility will certainly open new doors and significantly innovate the market and the technology industry.




AMD is focused on photonic technology

According to recent information, AMD seems interested in photonic technology and has analyzed the various possibilities of it bringing benefits to the company's chips. This technology is known to significantly increase the speed of data communication and, in the specific case of Lisa Su's manufacturer, this concept could promote the transmission of data between chips at the speed of light.

At the level of the hardware sector, photonic technology is understood as a way of transmitting information between chips through photons of light, where greater speed is then obtained. If you apply this technology to your industry, AMD may be able to improve data transmission between different chips, improve power consumption and also latency, performance, etc.

But this is not the first time that the American manufacturer has shown interest in this concept. In 2020, the brand registered a patent with the United States Patent Office, where it describes the use of this same technology.
