The game Cyberpunk 2077 went through some very dark moments at the time of release that brought down its popularity. The reason was related to the various errors, glitches and serious bugs that the game had and that were decisive for the negative reviews that even designated the title as an authentic failure.
But it seems that all these problems are a thing of the past, as the creator CD Projekt RED has been working hard to correct all the flaws, thus regaining the confidence of the players. And the latest information is proof of that as Cyberpunk 2077 has sold over 18 million copies.
Cyberpunk 2077: Over 18 million copies sold
It was during a meeting with investors, with the aim of revealing the financial results, that the Polish creator CD Project RED took the opportunity to spread an interesting information. According to the company, since the release of Cyberpunk 2077 in December 2020, the game has sold over 18 million copies.
However, compared to the company's other titles, these numbers are low. But we also cannot forget all the controversy in which the game was involved, which even led to Sony withdrawing it from the PlayStation Store. More recently, we also learned that CD Projekt RED was forced to pay 1.85 million dollars in the lawsuit in which it was targeted, precisely due to the serious problems that the game presented at its launch.
In turn, The Witcher saga, also by the Polish creator, has sold over 65 million copies. Of this amount, the title The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt alone was responsible for 40 million of those sales.
The expansion of Cyberpunk 2077 may arrive later than expected, being pointed to the next year of 2023. 160 people from the company are working on this project. In addition, CD Projekt RED recently announced that the new game The Witcher will now be developed on the Unreal Engine 5 engine.
In the year 2021, the company earned 207 million dollars, with a profit of 49 million dollars. In 2020, the brand's turnover was 500 million dollars, with a net profit of 268 million dollars.
