Follow these steps if you want to permanently remove your account:

  1. Go to the Microsoft website and log in with your account information.
  2. Now click on your profile and select “View account”.
  3. On the next page, go to “Security and Privacy”.
  4. Under “Account Security” click on the “Additional Security Settings” tab.
  5. A new page will open entitled “Protect Account”.
  6. Here you have to request a security code with your stored e-mail address or mobile phone number. (Tip: also check your spam folder)
  7. Now enter the security code in the marked field and click on “Send code”.

  9. You will now be redirected to the “Security Settings” page.
  10. Scroll to the bottom of the page until you reach the sub-item “Closing your account”.
  11. Now click on “Close my account”.

The very last step is to provide a reason for closing your account.

What happens now?

You have now requested to delete your Microsoft account. After the closure, you will be sent a link that you can use to restore your account if you wish.

If you do not access this link within the next 60 days, your Microsoft account will be completely deleted.
