the Disney Plus app for mobile phones and tablets gives you the freedom to view a wide range of content on the go – even when you are offline. But we miss a very useful function in the application: The picture-in-picture with Disney Plus
Disney Plus app: Picture-in-picture is missing
They are available at Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, for example: The picture-in-picture function. So if you’re streaming a movie or series, you can play the video through other apps. For example, you can write someone a message or do some research while the video is still being played in a smaller image. You can’t do that with the Disney Plus app. We miss the picture-in-picture function at Disney Plus.
If you watch a video in the Disney Plus app and go back to the start screen, the content of the streaming service will also close. So you can’t do something else with your mobile phone at the same time.
This is usually how you can enable picture-in-picture
Even if your mobile phone allows access to “picture-in-picture” for Disney Plus, at least it is not possible in our test with an Android mobile phone. If you want to test it on your Android phone, proceed as follows:
- Go to your phone’s settings.
- Select “Apps & Notifications”.
- Tap on “Advanced”.
- Tap on “Special App Access”.
- Now select “picture in picture”.
Here, the respective applications, such as the Disney Plus app, should say “Access allowed”. If not, you can activate the function. Although the feature was activated in our test, it does not work. We can only hope that the feature will be rolled out in the future.
