Vouchers for the purchase of free school textbooks on the MEGA platform are now available for several years. These have been issued as schools download student data onto the MEGA platform.

The official mobile application of the MEGA program – Free School Manuals and of the Portuguese public school network, promoted by the Institute for Financial Management of Education IGeFE, allows access to various information.
Its purpose is to provide access to the MEGA program – Free School Manuals and the consultation of information from the school network on mobile devices in order to allow greater proximity to the main actors: teachers, institution staff, school management, students and guardians. .
The MEGA program support app provides up-to-date information on the structure of the school network across the country: groups, member schools, contacts and news related to school activity and other useful information that promotes safety and monitoring of the school situation by of all stakeholders.
According to a note from the Ministry of Education, “the vouchers become available on the MEGA platform as student data is exported by schools to the platform”.
To benefit from free school textbooks, parents must register with www.manuaisescolares.pt or through using this app Edu Rede Escolar (android, iOS). In the first access, it will be necessary to confirm the taxpayer number (NIF), and the parents must have with them the access data to the Finance Portal so that the validation can be carried out. If they do not have the data, they must request it through the Finance Portal.
Only students attending public education or private education establishments with an association contract are entitled to free textbooks. The 2022/2023 school year starts between the 13th and 16th of September.
