Recently was Elon Musk guest of the podcaster Lex Fridman. There he talked, among other things, about how many years in the best case scenario people will have Mars could land.

Elon Musk speaks of people on Mars

Lex Fridman asks Elon Musk when he thinks SpaceX could bring a human to Mars. The billionaire takes several seconds to think about answering the question. After about 20 seconds of silence, he replies:

“In the best case, it’s about five years. In the worst case, it’s ten years. “

An important factor in getting people to Mars is the development of the vehicle that will take them there. “Starship is the most complex and advanced rocket ever built,” said Elon Musk. But at the moment money is the limiting factor.

“You couldn’t go to Mars for a trillion dollars. No amount of money could get you a ticket to Mars. “

The entrepreneur doesn’t just want “flags and footprints” on Mars. Elon Musk already announced last year that he would like to make life on Mars possible for a million people by 2050.
