On February 25th, the smartphones of the Galaxy S22 series will go on sale. A whole range of new features awaits you with them. Google has also been providing the devices with constant new Android updates for years – but not in full. For example, the customers of the South Korean hardware and software developer have to do without the popular “Seamless Update” function of the search engine group.

Samsung phones will continue without Seamless Update

As soon as Google introduced its new service, Samsung denied its users access. However, it was expected that the company could release the function with the release of new models. So far, this has not happened and in the case of the new Samsung phones from the Galaxy S22 series, this hope has apparently been disappointed. But first: what are seamless updates?

Specifically, Google uses A/B partitions for system updates for this feature. This means that you can install new software in the background, so to speak. If you restart your phone later, it is already loaded and usable. This means you no longer have to stop using your smartphone for several minutes for an update. Hence the name of the function, because “seamless” means “seamless”.

Community voices have been raised in various forums, demanding that Google make seamless updates mandatory for developers. At the latest with the release of the Samsung Galaxy S21 series, however, it was clear: it won’t get that far. 9to5Google shows that there is no reference to the feature in the system files of the new Samsung cell phones around the S22.

Important information about the S22 series

Even without seamless updates, the Samsung Galaxy S22, the S22+ and the S22 Ultra are impressive. We tell you everything you need to know about the devices and where you can pre-order the Samsung phones of the S22 series. You can also save on accessories. GSM Arena has found that the new Samsung charger with 45 watts of power does not offer any real added value compared to its cheaper predecessor.
