Vouchers for the purchase of free school textbooks on the MEGA platform are now available for students in the 1st cycle, 8th grade and 11th grade. For students in the 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th and 12th grades and other training offers, the issuance of vouchers starts on 9 August.

‘Vouchers’ are issued as schools download student data onto the MEGA platform.

Vouchers available on the Mega platform

Last year, 6.147 million vouchers were issued, only 11% remained to be redeemed. According to data provided by the Ministry of Education, so far 2.3 million school textbooks have been reused, which corresponds to a percentage of around 65%, with those from the first cycle not having to be returned.

According to a note from the Ministry of Education, “the vouchers become available as student data is exported by schools to the platform”.

To benefit from free school textbooks, parents must register with or through the Edu Rede Escolar app (android, iOS). In the first access, it will be necessary to confirm the taxpayer number (NIF), and the parents must have with them the access data to the Finance Portal so that the validation can be carried out. If they do not have the data, they must request it through the Finance Portal.
