As in the case of wine and coffee, there always seems to be conflicting opinions and evidence on the subject of eggs. The question, how many eggs a day you may or should eat at the end is correspondingly difficult to answer. However, an investigation puts forward an interesting theory.
How many eggs a day? This amount is generally acceptable
Experts have long agreed on one thing when answering the question of how many eggs a day are okay: one egg a day is harmless. Accordingly, the popular breakfast companions should not be missing from a balanced menu. The problem with the food, which has repeatedly led to discussions in science for several years: In addition to healthy ingredients such as protein, fat, vitamins and minerals, eggs also contain cholesterol.
In healthy people, this usually does not lead to problems. Your cholesterol level regulates itself in the blood and remains stable even when something new is added. As Öko-Test reports, a large-scale series of studies from 2020 with 177,000 participants shows that eating at least one egg a day does not lead to increased blood lipids and no more frequent occurrence of cardiovascular diseases.
It can look different if the blood cholesterol level is too high due to a permanent illness. With increased consumption of eggs there is a risk of cardiovascular disease, as the Federal Center for Nutrition explains.
Study shows unusual side effect from eggs
Another long-term study, the results of which were published in BMJ Journals in 2018, makes an additional and unusual suggestion. Accordingly, an egg a day can even reduce the risk of corresponding diseases.
It recruited more than 500,000 people from ten different locations in China between 2004 and 2008. They were asked how many eggs they eat each day or how many in general. Their consumption was then compared across various databases and active studies.
In the end, daily egg consumption was associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease compared to no consumption at all. According to the study, there was also an 18 percent lower risk of dying from corresponding diseases and a 28 percent lower risk of fatal cerebral hemorrhage.

Either way, as a healthy person, at least you won’t harm yourself if you eat an egg a day. It doesn’t matter whether you simply take in healthy ingredients or even reduce your risk of illness.
The question of how many cups of coffee a day are healthy is perhaps also interesting in this context. After all, this is also part of most breakfasts. Whether you drink your coffee with or without milk can also affect your health.
