How to Unlock Flying in Horizon Forbidden West

If you’ve seen the trailers, you might be wondering how unlock flying in Horizon Forbidden West”. After all, the map is huge and it can take a while to move from place to place. This is especially true if you haven’t been to an area and the campfires aren’t unlocked to aid quick travel. That’s why, once you unlock the ability to fly on the back of a Sunwing, traveling becomes so much more manageable.

One of the best features ofHorizon Forbidden West is Aloy’s ability to replace the machines that inhabit the world. Taking control of a massive Thunderjaw and having it do your bidding is a ton of fun.

That said, nothing is as useful as being able to fly. Not only does this speed up movement around the map, but it allows you to bypass those difficult climbs and even allows you to complete previously impossible objectives.

Here’s what you need to know to unlock the flightHorizon Forbidden Westand especially when it will be available.

When do you fly to Horizon Forbidden West?

To fly, you need a Sunwing. They are Horizon Forbidden West’s answer to a pterodactyl and can prove to be formidable enemies if they are not on your side. However, to pilot one, you will need to master one.

To do this, you will need to acquire a Sunwing Waiver. Unlike other Waivers, although the Sunwing Waiver is in one of the cauldrons in Horizon Forbidden West, it’s not the one you’ll stumble upon. To enter Cauldron GEMINIyou will have to complete the mission called rightly Gemini.

This is one of the main missions ofHorizon Forbidden West, so if you’ve been focusing on the side quests, you might be a bit off. It is the fourth to last mission in the game and comes with a recommended level of 30.

How to get a Sunwing

Once you get the replacement code GEMINI, you’re not quite done yet. Unsurprisingly, you need to get yourself a flying machine. Get your spear ready, because we’re on the hunt for robo-pterodactyls.

Luckily the hunt should be pretty short as they are easy to find. This is also pretty well marked by the game, but in case you get lost or don’t follow the mission, head to the base.

From there, head to the west side exit. Once outside, jump off the ledge and then from the camp, head right. You will find a fork in the road. Take the fork that goes up and to the right. Follow the path to the top of the mountain, where you will find Sunwings. From there, just use the foliage to sneak up to an invisible one and replace it.

You now have the ability to fly. This is easily one of the best unlocks in the game and allows you to move around, which makes a lot of things like reaching hard places to get to much easier. You can also summon your flying mount on demand using the quick menu at the bottom of your screen.

One thing you can do now that you have the ability is to fly up to multiple Tallnecks on the map. There are several that can be quickly bypassed with the use of the Sunwing, so go clear the fog from your minimap.
