How to Use a New Android Phone

Either because you want to improve technological features, or because your Android device was lost or broken. One of the possibilities is to start from scratch with a new Android device, or use a new Android phone by transferring the data you have on another device. Initial considerations

Use a new Android phone from an iPhone

In case you want to change from a iPhone towards a phone with Android operating system, you should proceed as follows.

  • First of all, turn on the device new with Android system.
  • Press on the button Start.
  • Once prompted, select the option to copy apps and data from a previous phone.
  • In case you have a cable to connect both phones, connect and follow the instructions on the screen. If you do not have the cable, select the option Don’t you have the cable? and then press OK. Then press the option An iPhone device.
  • To proceed with the data copy, simply follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
  • If you want sync with the new Android phone, you must create an iPhone and iCloud account backup to the Google Drive service. For this you must proceed as follows:
    • install on your iPhone the Google Drive app and open it.
    • In the upper left corner of the app, select the option Menu.
    • Then press Settings -> Backup.
    • To finish press the option Start backup.

Configure SMS

Once the switch to a new Android phone has been made from the iPhone, you must configure the SMS service. Otherwise, it may happen that the SMS sent to your SIM card, are sent to the iPhone instead of the Android device.

Before you remove your SIM card from iPhone, you must disable iMessage, for which you should proceed as follows:

  • go to Setting on the iPhone.
  • Choose Posts.
  • Change the status of the iMessage app to “disabled”.

In case these have been saved in your SIM card, You must import them into your Google account, as follows:

  • Insert your SIM card on the new device.
  • open the app contacts.
  • Click on the option Menu -> Settings -> Import.
  • Select the SIM card option. In case you have more than one Google account, you must choose which account to import the contacts to.

If you export your contacts on the old phone to a file with extension .vcf, you must copy this file to the new Android device. Once you have the .vcf file on the new phone, proceed:

  • Open the application of contacts.
  • Click on the option Menu -> Settings -> Import.
  • Select option .vcf file. In the window, look for the location of the file and select the account to which you are going to import the contacts in case you have more than one

Music

All the music you find bought in YouTube Music or Google Play It will automatically appear on your new Android device.

You can also create a backup of your phone’s music on a computer. You can then import this music via Google Chrome browser into your music library. googleplay, just by dragging it into the browser.

Files, folders, photos and videos

In case you have an internet connection, upload all the content you want to google drive and create a backup in Google Photos. Once you connect with the new phone you will be able to access all this saved content.

Another way can be to connect the old phone to a computer and copy all your files and folders to the computer’s hard drive. Once you configure a new Android phone, you just have to connect it to the computer, and copy these files back to the phone memory.
