After being launched in Russia and some Asian countries in late 2021, the new smartwatch Huawei Watch GT Runner has finally started to be made available in the global market.

The Huawei Watch GT Runner is a model mainly developed for professional runners and passionate about the sport. With polymer fiber construction, ceramic finish and titanium alloy on the crown button, the manufacturer promises that the smartwatch has enormous durability, without compromising comfort.

Its design refers to sports cars, having several perforated elements that help to reach the weight of only 38.5 grams – so the extra weight of the watch shouldn’t get in the way of performance on the streets. The case is 46mm in size, while the silicone strap accommodates wrists from 140mm to 210mm.

The smart watch has a 1.43-inch AMOLED touchscreen with 466 x 466 pixel resolution. Huawei designed the Watch GT Runner’s complications and interface for quick and accurate viewing. To activate the device’s screen, simply raise your wrist slightly.

Complete training tracking

Talking a little about the features of the Huawei Watch GT Runner, we have a Updated heart rate sensor (TruSeen 5.0+) with eight photodiodes arranged in a circular layout, with two light sources. A curved glass is used which reduces the interference of external light.

These technologies are still allied to a artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm, which, according to the manufacturer, allow you to filter noise from the information collected and generate a much more accurate measurement of your heart rate, especially during intense physical activities.

In fact, the brand claims that the smartwatch has an accuracy equivalent to that of heart strap mechanisms, with 97% accuracy within a range of 10 bpm. Other sensors on the Huawei Watch GT Runner include an accelerometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensor as well as an atmospheric pressure sensor – the brand does not mention any SPo2 oxygen sensors on its website.

Connected from all corners

The smartwatch’s polymer construction is no accident: in addition to significantly relieving the feeling of weight, the material prevents interference with the internal antennas, which provides a up to 135% improvement in the quality of wireless connections – in relation to models of previous generations. The device has Dual-band connectivity in five GNSS systems, enabling precise satellite positioning to accurately map your path.

Other connectivity includes support for Bluetooth and NFC. The watch is also compatible with HarmonyOS 2 or higher, Android 6.0 or higher and iOS 9.0 or higher operating systems.

A coach to call your own

One last, but important, differential of the Huawei Watch GT Runner is the racing coach powered by Artificial Intelligence. Using data from your past training sessions, the watch is able to suggest new routes, training rhythms and even measure your performance as an athlete, through the RAI index – Running Ability Index.

Huawei claims that the methods used to suggest and monitor training are scientific, taking into account issues such as muscle recovery.

The user can follow their progress not only through the RAI index, but also through other statistics displayed on the watch and in the smartphone app. THE Huawei’s estimated battery life is 14 days under typical usage and 7 days under heavy usage, with a high number of trainings and measurements.

Launch and availability

Considering that the device is manufactured by Huawei and uses the Harmony OS system adapted for smart watches, the Watch GT Runner is unlikely to arrive in the United States.

However, the forecast is for launch as of this month in Europe, at the suggested price of 299 Euros (about 1,800 reais in a direct conversion, without considering freight and import costs). For Brazilians, the device is already on sale through sites such as Ali Express, at an approximate price of 2,000 reais.
