Some users noticed that the noise canceling function on the iPhone 13 is not available. It can usually be found in the Accessibility settings on earlier Apple smartphones. Is it an error? No, because now it’s clear: Apple has removed the feature.

iPhone 13 lacks noise cancellation

In December 2021, 9to5Mac reported that some iPhone 13 users complained that there was no noise cancellation. The feature is useful when making calls, as it blocks out ambient noise while you’re holding the phone to your ear. A few weeks later, it is now clear that the lack of the function is not a bug with the iPhone 13.

According to 9to5Mac, their reader Steve reported the problem to Apple Support. He replied as follows:

“We have an update on this topic. Phone noise cancellation isn’t available on iPhone 13 models, which is why you won’t see this option in Settings.”

So it’s clear: Apple deliberately and almost secretly left out the noise suppression on the iPhone.

There is an “emergency solution”

In fact, AirPods have such noise cancellation. But that cannot be the solution for many users. So don’t own all these small devices. After all, they cost between 149 (2nd generation) and 279 euros (AirPods Pro).

However, according to Giga, there is another small solution: you can open the control center while you are on a call or facetime. From there, tap on “Microphone Mode” and select “Voice Isolation” from the drop-down menu. In this way, the background noise could be filtered in a roundabout way. The result is not perfect, but at least a solution.

More Apple news

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak isn’t impressed with the iPhone 13. He sees no difference between the iPhone 12 and 13. Does the iPhone 14, which is expected in 2022, stand out with new features? Also, do you already know these iPhone tricks? Even Apple employees swear by one.
