The President of Aragon, Javier Lambán, has assured that the work carried out in recent years on the banks of the Ebro will help to “alleviate” the damage that occurs in this extraordinary flood of the river. The work of cleaning the riverbed and the construction of ponds will help reduce material losses and prevent water from reaching urban areas, which, at the moment, is the priority of the Executive, which, however, recognizes the “unpredictability” from the river.

Lambán visited the town of Novillas this Sunday, which awaits the peak of the flood for the afternoon of this Sunday. There he has once again demanded the cleaning of the channels and the excess vegetation of the rivers “as far as the legislation goes.” “The CHE has done a magnificent job in recent years. You have to persevere and insist on that claim. No matter how many cleanings are done, every time a coming of this nature comes there will be problems. If cleaning has been done, vegetation has been removed, the losses will be less ”, he stated.

Thus, the works of the device activated by the Governments of Aragon and Spain are now focused on “preserving human lives and urban areas,” said Lambán, assuring farmers and ranchers that “they will have on their side” both executives . “I am very proud and happy with how this coordination of all the political leaders is working. The coordination is perfect, the anticipation of the events is very effective, taking into account the unpredictability component. The first thing is to preserve the urban areas and try by all means not to flood any of them ”, he pointed out.
