Amazon’s alexa has long had a reputation for constantly wiretapping people. However, regardless of the accuracy of this, it can also be useful to check your own home for noise. But the echoes with the room surveillance even multiple functions.

How can I eavesdrop on my apartment with Amazon Alexa?

Listening to your own apartment is very easy with the so-called room surveillance. Depending on the purpose for which you intend to do this, there are different ways and possibilities.

Theft and burglary protection
If you are afraid that your house or apartment will be broken into, Alexa has a very special function for this. If you say the phrase “Alexa, I’m leaving” to your Echo, the device knows that no one is in the apartment from now on. Now it listens to the apartment for conspicuous and suspicious noises and sends a message to your mobile phone if the worst comes to the worst. If you have Echo Show, you can also look at a picture of your apartment in real time.
With the command “Alexa, start burglar deterrents” you can remotely make Alexa play everyday sounds so the thief thinks someone is in the house.

Room monitoring as a baby monitor? you can do that

Another reason you might want to bug your home might be if you have a child. In fact, it is also possible to use Alexa as a baby monitor, but this is not done via room monitoring and does not have its own function.

The solution is simple, but requires two echoes. As with a baby monitor, one echo must be in the children’s room or bedroom and the other echo must be close to you. Then all you have to do is ring one echo with the other and you can hear every sound your child makes. Of course, this also works for pets and without an echo, provided you have two cell phones that you can put on loudspeakers.

There are now many extras for Amazon’s Echo that are not yet known to the general public. However, always take care of your security and protect yourself from spying by Alexa, because Amazon employees could also eavesdrop on your apartment.
