Specialized in the distribution and manufacture of luxury items such as bags, jewelry, shoes and eyewear, Gucci is releasing its newest Ophidia case. The brand’s case for Apple’s AirPods Max not at an affordable price, reaching almost one thousand dollars. The Italian brand has already launched several accessories for Apple products, such as the case for an iPhone 12 Pro Max and the Marmont case for the AirPods Pro.
The new accessory promises to protect the headphones, being intended for those who have a high purchasing power and who do not want to carry the common case that comes with the AirPods Max. The case comes in beige, with the letters “GG” in gold. and details in green and red, used in several products of the brand. Inside, the predominant color is blue and comes with the word “Hodiernum” written on it, which translated from Latin means “belonging to the present day”.
According to Gucci, the product has an adjustable strap that allows the user to carry it in various ways to use, including using it as a bag. Made in Italy, the lining is made of neoprene and viscose materials and the company claims that its manufacture has a low environmental impact.
The brand did not reveal whether the case has magnets like Apple’s Smart Case, in which it aims to leave Apple headphones in battery saving mode, preventing the accessory from consuming a lot of energy even when not used. That way, if the luxury case doesn’t have this feature, the user will still have to use the traditional case to charge the AirPods Max battery.
The product is already being sold by Gucci official website per $980 (more than BRL 5,200, in direct conversion), which is more expensive than the AirPods Max themselves.
