Messenger: How to block a contact through the app

Despite being fully connected to Facebook, the messenger it also has standalone tools within the application. Thus, users can block contacts through the messenger in a simple and fast way, without you having to stop following what a page or friend posts on Meta’s social network.

This way, the blocked Messenger contact will be prevented from messaging or calling you, however, you and the person will still be able to interact with each other on Facebook,

Noting that this tutorial was done through an Android smartphone, however, the same step-by-step also applies to iOS devices, where other interface options will be presented. How to block a contact using the Messenger app

  • Firstly, enter the application home page of the messenger and search for the contact you want to block.
  • Then, touch and hold in that user’s chat tab.
  • select option Block.
  • On the new page, tap the lock iconbeside Block on Messenger.

  • Confirm the action by tapping Block.
  • Now, when viewing the contact in your app, you will see the following message: “You have turned off messages”.
  • In case you regret it, go to the conversation and select the button Unlock.
