According to the latest information, it seems that Microsoft will be considering adding advertising to its free Xbox games.

The sources that put forward this data indicate that the company will be defining a strategy to insert brand advertising, but without interrupting the gaming experience. This is because the ads would be placed in virtual banners inserted in the free game environment itself.

A phrase that has been used repeatedly is that "there are no free lunches" which, in essence, in certain contexts, means that everything has a price, and when it is free, perhaps the user himself is the product. And this saying is often used in situations where, in order to have access to something for free, a person only has to watch some advertising content.

Free Xbox games may have advertising

Some sources close to Microsoft say the company is developing a program to help brands insert banner ads inside free Xbox games. In this way, companies that want to see their brand publicized will be able to buy a kind of ad inventory in order to guarantee a space for themselves on virtual billboards.

Thus, everything seems to indicate that Microsoft is creating a kind of 'private market', and limiting brand ads so that they do not interrupt the game experience. According to the sources "the program will allow advertisers to reach consumers through in-game advertisements that do not interrupt the game experience".

The details of the information revealed say that Microsoft will still be analyzing technology companies to prepare the ad catalog and move forward with the implementation of the same. And this program can be put into practice between the months of July and September of this year.

For now, the company led by Satya Nadella has not yet confirmed or denied this possibility. But in an interview with Business Insidera Microsoft spokesperson said the tech giant is constantly striving to "improve the experience" of programmers and gamers, but who didn't have "nothing more to share".

If it is too intrusive, this advertising program may not appeal to many players. But perhaps the fact that it is implemented in free games has a greater tolerance on the part of gamers. In this way, developers earn more money from these ads, without relying on in-game purchases made by users.
