THE Netflix released today, the 31st, another trailer for the film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Leatherface Returnsa sequence (with airs of reboot) of the original The Texas Chainsaw Massacrefrom 1974. In this 2:30 trailer, we see the infamous killer leatherface being much more violent than in the teaser released in December last year. The film premieres on streaming platform on the 18th of February.
New “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” brings a character from the first film
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Leatherface Returns is a continuation of the 1974 classic, but brings new actors to old characters… After all, there’s no way to revive Gunnar Hansen, who played the villain leatherface in the first movie, not Marilyn Burnsthe protagonist who played the sole survivor of the massacre in the 1970s. Other factors that make “Leatherface’s Return” to have an air of a reboot is to bring current technologies and behaviors to the film (as seen at the end of the trailer). In English the film will only be called Texas Chainsaw Massacrejust like the original.
At the trailer we see Olwen Fouéré playing the survivor Sally Hardesty. Seeking revenge, hardsety will help the group of protagonists of this sequel/reboot to face (and understand) the villain leatherfacewhich will be played by actor Mark Burnham.
Return of the Slashers
Anyone who is a fan of horror movies can see from the trailer that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Leatherface Returns shows elements of the genre terror slasherplots in which a serial killer (almost immortal, right, Jason and Michael Myers?) goes out killing several people in a violent way and filling the screen with blood. The new film in the franchise has among the producers Kim Henkel, one of the screenwriters of the 1974 film. For those who like a classic slasher, stay tuned for the premiere.
This kind of Slasher genre has been losing success in recent years, but it’s been catching up in recent years, with a new movie from Chuckythe killer doll, in 2019 and with panic 5which premiered on January 14 of this year and has already raised over 100 million dollars worldwide.
