Hyundai has a very complete market offer. From thermal to electric/electrified, the company stands out for the excellent quality of its sets. In a very popular segment, the fourth generation of the Hyundai Tucson takes the lead in terms of units sold in this compact SUV segment in Europe.

The car we tested, the Hyundai Tucson 1.6 TGDi Vanguard, showed us the reason for the success of this vehicle. Elegant, comfortable, safe and very impulsive, these are some of the characteristics of the South Korean SUV.

Hyundai Tucson: a successful SUV

O Hyundai Tucson, in the competition in the SUV category, climbed to the highest place on the podium this year, after finishing in second place last year. According to figures compiled by JATO Dynamics, a global provider of automotive business intelligence, Tucson is poised to set a sales record.

Based on new registrations in 27 European countries as of March 2022, this vehicle is currently the best-selling compact SUV in Europe, with over 15,000 units registered as of March 2022.

We use this SUV on various floors, in the rain, with conditions that are hypothetically unfavorable for vehicles of this size. However, safety was never compromised thanks also to a package of driver assistance systems. Although electric cars are the models of the moment, combustion cars have not gone down in history and the South Korean manufacturer is writing new and impressive chapters.

Don't be alarmed, but the new Hyundai Tucson 1.6 TGDi Vanguard MY22 will definitely take you on a journey into the future. At least when you're sitting behind the wheel, the cabin feels that way.

Hyundai promotes innovative design that stands out from previous models

Hyundai presents its new Tucson as an irreverent model ready to break barriers. The highlight is the design that the brand characterizes as being sophisticated and innovative, conceived from the ordinary, but capable of going further.

Of considerable size (4.5 meters in length; 1.87 meters in width; and 1.65 meters in height), it guarantees a luggage compartment with a capacity of 580 liters. In addition, it has a wheelbase of 2.68 meters. Don't be scared, it's big but manageable.

One of the strengths of this new version is the redesign that is more European, more attractive, without being radical, just looking like an imposing car. In fact, your front is an example of this. We really like the front that maintains the European trait of the Asian brand.

The new Hyundai Tucson has its front optical groups with Full LED technology integrated into the grille. Here, if the lights are on, they are highlighted, as well as the geometric shapes that project them; once erased, the elements merge into the grid, passing unnoticed.

More than that, the front of the new Hyundai Tucson also includes the brand's latest light architecture, the Hidden Parametric Optical Groups. It incorporates lighting technology into the SUV's geometric grille pattern.

Of course, the 18" alloy wheels complement the vehicle's proportions and underline its presence even more.

They're not discreet, they aren't, it's a fact, but they give the SUV's design a robust and secure character.

Going beyond the front, the rear is also completely renewed, featuring a triangular-shaped LED headlight with an illuminated line that runs across the entire width of the new Tucson. In addition, this is the first model from Hyundai to incorporate a rear and hidden wiper blade.

These changes allow, in the words of the brand, “an unimpeded view”.

The available colors are also a challenge to the driver's taste. We tested an Amazon Gray (Metallic) with a Phantom Black roof.

Drivers who want to give it some identity can opt for metallic paint or solid paint.

Always present technology

Currently, manufacturers seek to ensure that their offer guarantees differentiating technological elements, which affirm the modernity of the models and respond to the growing need of drivers.

Therefore, the new Hyundai Tucson has an on-board computer with a Supervision Cluster (Polychromatic) display and a 10"25" instrument panel - fully digital. More than that, this Hyundai novelty dispenses with physical commands and buttons, projecting the driver into the future.

Polished and shiny materials can be a magnet for small dust particles and fingerprints, but it's a small snag for a stylish infotainment console.

In addition, it also has other elements that are very useful for everyday life and for the comfort of the driver:

  • Automatic door locking after starting;
  • Bluetooth;
  • Smartphone integration with Apple Carplay and Android Auto;

  • Rear parking assist camera with dynamic lines;
  • Wireless charger for smartphones;
  • Smart key and ignition button;
  • Hill Start Control and Descent Control (Hac/Dbc);
  • Cruise Control With Speed Limiter And Steering Wheel Controls;
  • Assisted Driving;
  • E-Call;
  • Esc - Electronic Stability Control;
  • Heated exterior mirrors with electrically adjustable LED direction indicators;
  • Hyundai Smart Sense;
  • Electric tailgate;
  • Rain and light sensor;
  • Driver Fatigue Alert System (Daw).

Performance that does not disappoint those who opt for combustion engines

The brand promises that the new Hyundai Tucson adapts to all drivers and all driving tastes. In this case, it has an internal combustion engine: 1.6 TGDi MT with 150hp; and a six-speed manual gearbox.

The promise of the Hyundai Tucson 1.6 TGDi Vanguard MY22 is a top speed of 189 km/h, taking 10.3 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. Furthermore, the driver can choose between Eco, Normal or Sport driving modes.

Price

The SUV market is very important. As a result, brands are diversifying their offer. From gasoline to diesel, without forgetting electrification, Hyundai has a wide range of these vehicles.

This one we tested, and its entire range, has a 7-year unlimited mileage warranty. Regarding the price, the Hyundai Tucson 1.6 TGDi Vanguard MY22 is available from €33,200 with financing.
