Neither OS updates nor security patches become two Android phones received in the future. OnePlus is now officially announcing this for two flagship smartphones. The company says it’s time to “close a chapter.”
These Android phones are no longer supported
“After 3 major updates and more than 3 years of updates, around 60 closed beta builds and over 30 open beta builds, it is now time to close a chapter and announce the end of official software support for OnePlus 6 and 6T “, writes an employee in the OnePlus forum. Effective immediately, Android phones will no longer receive support.
The OnePlus 6 and the 6T were released in Germany in autumn 2018. You can still use the smartphones, but now you have to live with the fact that there are no more updates. For example, security updates are important to protect your phone from cybercriminals. These usually ensure that any security gaps that have arisen are closed so that criminals have no chance of using them and getting your data.
One Plus is a Chinese electronics manufacturer. The head office is in Shenzhen, China. The motto of the company is “Never Settle”. In a figurative sense, this means that one should “never be satisfied”. The first smartphone, the SmartPlus One, came out in April 2014. |
New mobile phones in the starting blocks
The new OnePlus 10 Pro 5G is scheduled to be launched in the spring. The Android phone is advertised with the following properties, among others:
- 2nd generation Hasselblad camera for mobile phones
- A billion colors
- Super fast charging
- Large battery with 5,000 mAh
- Mobile platform Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
- Fluid AMOLED at 120Hz and LTPO
- Dynamic update rate
So if you want a new Android phone after the support stop for the OnePlus 6 and 6T, this could be a possible successor.
