The launch of Nothing’s first smartphone has been generating a lot of public curiosity. A mid/high range model was expected, with unique specifications for the segment and, above all, with a bold design.

The design was already more than explored… but on the inside, what does the Nothing phone (1) have to offer?

We developed the phone (1) as a product that we are proud to share with friends and family. This simple principle helped us get off the beaten path, tune into our instincts, and create an experience that I hope will mark the beginning of change in a stagnant industry.

Nothing phone (1) with futuristic design

The new Nothing phone (1) was presented this afternoon with what they called the Glyph Interface, the LED light cluster positioned at the rear. Their goal is to minimize screen time, but of course this will require some getting used to. ~

The Glyph Interface allows you to create unique light patterns made from 900 LEDs that can indicate, for example, who is calling through light patterns, charging status or what type of notification has been received.

This interface is only possible thanks to a completely different design from what the competition offers. The Nothing phone (1) has a transparent back made up of over 400 components. The frame is made from 100% recycled aluminum and 50% of the plastic components are made from recycled materials.

The front and rear windows have Gorilla Glass 5 protection and have vibration motors with a more realistic touch response.

the user interface

No bloatware, just pure speed and a smooth user experience. Hardware and software speak a single visual language, with custom widgets, fonts, sounds and wallpapers all designed in-house

This is Nothing's promise for its Nothing OS. The user interface, in addition to features based on Android 13, has integration with third-party devices, such as Teslas, for example, and more integrations are promised soon.

the cameras

The smartphone comes with two 50 MP rear cameras. The main camera has a Sony IMX766 sensor, with an aperture of f/1.8, it offers image stabilization, support for 10-bit video, Night Mode and Scene Detection. The other is an ultra wide-angle Samsung JN1.

Taking advantage of the back lighting, the user will have excellent lighting for their photos or videos in darker environments. The front camera is 16 MP.

Other specifications

It comes with a 6.55" OLED screen with HDR10+ and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The processor is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+, developed with this device in mind, as a result of a partnership between the two companies.

It has 5G support and even allows wireless charging and reverse charging.

The battery is 4500 mAh with fast charging at 33W, charging to 50% in just 30 minutes.

price and availability

The Nothing phone (1) will be available in black and white, with three variants:

  • 8GB + 128GB - €499 (black)
  • 8GB + 256GB - €529 (black and white)
