Obi-Wan Kenobi: New series gets poster and premiere date on Disney Plus

Today, the Star Wars page announced through Twitter that Obi-Wan Kenobi will arrive on the day May 25, 2022. Along with the premiere date, the profile shared an exclusive poster for the new Disney Plus series. This will be the third production on Disney’s Star Wars universe, the series The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett are already in the platform’s catalog.

Like The Book of Boba Fett, released late last year, the new series will follow the story of yet another iconic character from the Star Wars universe. The production will tell new chapters in the story of the Jedi, ten years after the events of the film. Revenge of the Sith.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi, an original limited series, begins streaming May 25 on Disney Plus,” the account posted.

Series cast and direction

The cast of Obi-Wan Kenobi will feature familiar faces such as Ewan McGregor, back with the lead role of the Jedi. In addition to McGregor, another actor who will revive his character is Hayden Christensen, playing Darth Vader (formerly Anakin Skywalker). Both played their respective characters in the first three films in the George Lucas series.

The production created by Hossein Amini (The Two Faces of January) is directed by Deborah Chow, who also worked on The Mandalorian series. Actors Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals), Sung Kang (Fast and Furious) and Joel Edgerton (The King) and actresses Bonnie Piesse (Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith) and Indira Varma (Hours of Silence) are also part of the cast.
