The OnePlus 10 Ultra will launch sometime this year. A new report suggests the next smartphone will have a periscope lens, basing speculation on alleged patent designs filed in September. The upcoming flagship smartphone is said to sport a secondary display inside the camera module. The OnePlus 10 Ultra is also said to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC, similar to the upcoming OnePlus 10R. Last month, the OnePlus 10 Ultra was in the Engineering Verification Testing (EVT) phase, meaning it could be released soon.
Like reported by MyDrivers, TechInsider insider (@TechInsiderBlog) shared some alleged patent designs – filed September 2021 – of a smartphone with a different design than the OnePlus 10 Pro, and it is now being speculated that it could be the next OnePlus 10 Ultra. According to the report, the third sensor on the rear camera module will be a periscope lens – placed below the two primary rear sensors.
The report also mentions that the OnePlus 10 Ultra might get a secondary display next to the periscope lens. It appears to be too small to display selfies – like on the Xiaomi 11 Ultra – but it is speculated to have other users. It is also possible that it is not a secondary display as the drawings are not very detailed. According to the drawings, the rest of the OnePlus 10 Ultra’s design is quite similar to the OnePlus 10 Pro.
The alleged patent drawings show the OnePlus smartphone with a curved screen that has a cutout in the upper left corner and seemingly thin bezels. On the right spine it is shown with an alert slider and a power button. The left apparently houses the volume rocker. The bottom of the smartphone is shown with two speaker grilles and a USB Type-C port. The company has yet to announce details about the OnePlus 10 Ultra, and we recommend that readers take the leaked patent drawings with a pinch of salt.
The report also mentions that the OnePlus 10 Ultra could be equipped with the newly launched MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC – also indicated to power the OnePlus 10R. The next OnePlus 10 Ultra is said to be released in the second half of 2022 and the rest of the specs will be similar to the OnePlus 10 Pro. The report also mentions that the price of the OnePlus 10 Ultra will be significantly higher than the OnePlus 10 Pro.
Last month, it was reported that the OnePlus 10 Ultra was in the EVT phase. EVT stands for Engineering Verification Test and is the first step of testing a new smartphone. Post that, a smartphone goes into the Design Verification Test (TVP) and Product Verification Test (PVT) phases, respectively. The report also mentions that a OnePlus smartphone may also receive Oppo’s in-house MariSilicon X NPU.
