OnePlus’ unified operating system will be released in the second half of this year. Oppo and OnePlus’ upcoming integrated operating software is also based on Android 13 and could debut with a OnePlus flagship. It was previously reported that the unified operating system might launch alongside the global variant of the OnePlus 10 Pro, but recent reports suggest that might not be the case. Separately, the OnePlus Pad tablet will receive the Android 12L operating system, released specifically for foldable tablets and smartphones.
According to informant Yogesh Brar, in collaboration with MySmartPrice, OnePlus’ unified operating system (can be styled as UnifiedOS) could debut sometime in the second half of 2022. Brar also mentioned that the new operating system will launch alongside a OnePlus flagship and will be based on Android 13. The new OS is said to be in the early stages of development as of now.
It was previously reported that the OnePlus and Oppo unified OS will be released alongside the launch of the OnePlus 10 Pro global version. However, the report mentions that the two Chinese tech giants have decided to delay the release of their unified OS. This indicates that the global variant of the OnePlus 10 Pro can get OxygenOS 12 out of the box. Was released in China with Oppo’s ColorOS 12.1 skin, based on Android 12.
Brar even tipped, together with 91Mobiles, which OnePlus Pad can launch with Android 12L. The OnePlus tablet is expected to launch in India in the first half of this year. So it’s safe to assume that OnePlus may announce the OnePlus Pad in the coming weeks.
Android 12L Beta was released in December and has been optimized for tablets and foldable smartphones. It is designed to benefit devices with large screens. This is the first time Google has focused on optimizing its Android apps for larger screens since the launch of the tablet-focused Android Honeycomb in 2012.
