This year, the Oscars will be presented on Sunday, March 27th. On the night of Monday, ProSieben will once again show the film event live. And presenter Steven Gätjen (49) will also receive stars on the red carpet beforehand, as the broadcaster reports. “Hollywood and glamor are back. I’m really looking forward to this year’s Oscars. At the old place, the Dolby Theater and finally back after a long time with moderation and many stars,” says Gätjen in a statement.
These are the broadcast times
After there had been no moderators in previous years, Regina Hall (51), Amy Schmer (40) and Wanda Sykes (57) will host the evening this year. Gätjen greets you from the red carpet on March 27 from 11:10 p.m. The Academy Awards will then be shown that night from 2:00 a.m. German time. In prime time, ProSieben shows the free TV premiere of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”. The broadcaster will then present the highlights of the ceremony on Monday at 5:00 p.m.
The Netflix production “The Power of the Dog” is the big favorite at this year’s Oscars with twelve nominations. No studio has been nominated as often this year as the streaming service, which has entered the race a total of 27 times.
Benedict Cumberbatch (45, “The Power of the Dog”) and Will Smith (53, “King Richard”) can hope for the Oscar for best leading actor. Nicole Kidman (54, “Being the Ricardos”) and Kristen Stewart (31, “Spencer”) have a chance of winning the award for best actress.
