Panasonic introduces Lumix GH6 digital camera, which shoots in 4K at 120 FPS

One of the favorites of youtubers, the lumix gives Panasonic, finally revealed the specifications of the new model in the line. And, although it is externally very similar to its predecessor, the Lumix GH6 brings news inside.

Announced almost a year ago, together with the launch of GH5 Mark IIthis new Panasonic toy is the highest resolution mirrorless Micro Four Thirds to date.

Without much ado, let’s talk about what this machine can offer its future owners:

  • 3-inch hinged screen;
  • 25.2 Megapixel Micro Four Thirds sensor with high-speed readout;
  • Depth From Defocus (DFD), which is a contrast detection autofocus system;
  • 5.7K video recording with V-Log at up to 30 fps with internal capture to ProRes or ProRes HQ; 5.7K up to 60 fps for 10-bit MP4 H.264/H.265 recording; 4:2:0 10-bit 4K at up to 120 fps using the longGOP codec or 1080p at 300 fps (240 fps with autofocus);

  • It will be possible to use the full width of the sensor in super-sampled video in all 5.7K and 4K modes (including 120p);
  • GH6 is one of the first mirrorless cameras with HDMI 2.1 output, which will eventually allow recording in 4K RAW externally at up to 120 fps via a future update. At launch it will support 4K at up to 60 fps, with simultaneous external and internal recording.
  • In the future, the GH6 will support recording via external SSD on the USB-C 3.2 port, which also allows you to power the camera while shooting;
  • A new feature is dynamic range boost, which allows the use of two analog circuits at different ISO settings to make two different exposures. This generates improved dynamic range in scenes with both bright and dark areas, without excessive noise, although it is limited to ISO 2000 or higher;

  • The GH6 features five-axis in-body stabilization and adds up to 7.5 stops of vibration reduction with supported lenses;
  • With battery and memory card the GH6 weighs 823 grams and has a fan built into the camera to allow it to record for longer periods;
  • It uses the Venus Engine processor and also supports Apple ProRes 422 HQ format, in addition to V-Log format and V-Gamut color gamut;

From March to Panasonic Lumix GH6 will be available in the United States with a suggested value of US$ 2,199 – just over R$ 11,000 in direct conversion. It will also be sold together with a Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-60mm f/2.8-4 ASPH lens for $2,799.
