As “Game of Thrones” character Tyrion Lannister, actor Peter Dinklage (52) became a fan favorite and world star in equal measure. Of course, Dinklage has heard that “House of the Dragon”, a prequel series to the fantasy hit, will be released this year. In conversation with Marc Maron (58) in his podcast “WTF”, the actor revealed that he has mixed feelings about the series, which will take place about 200 years before the events surrounding his character.

Although Dinklage is sure that “it will be a really damn good series”. Overall, however, he would have liked to have had more courage to take risks – as was once the case with “Game of Thrones”: “HBO took a huge risk with our series. It’s been a slow start, but why aren’t they doing it again? This is not a risk. It’s a proven thing that works,” says Dinklage.

Too many Westeros?

Whether that is really the case remains to be seen. Not only because of the heavily criticized last season of “Game of Thrones” did a certain oversaturation of stories from and about Westeros seem to set in. Nevertheless, in addition to “House of the Dragon”, various other spin-off series are currently being planned. Another titled “Bloodmoon,” which would have starred Naomie Watts (53), was scrapped after the pilot episode was shot but never released.
