Pico W: Raspberry Pi launched new board for about 5 euros with Wi-Fi

Despite all the products that exist in the mini PC segment, the Raspberry Pi remains the most popular in the world. In addition to the mini PC, the Raspberry Foundation has also put on the market several small programming boards.

The latest card is the Pi Pico W which is only available for around €5 ($6) and comes with Wi-Fi.

It's called Raspberry Pi Pico W and it's the new board from the Raspberry Foundation that can be used for the most diverse scenarios. The board is small in size and has a set of very interesting specifications.

The new Pico W is priced at $6 (about 5 euros at the current conversion rate) and brings 802.11 Wi-Fi connectivity to the system. Remember that the previous version cost 4 dollars, but did not have Wi-Fi connectivity.

Raspberry Pi Pico specs

According to what has been revealed, the Raspberry Pi Pico has the following characteristics:

  • CPU – RP2040 chip. Dual-core Arm Cortex-M0+ processor
  • Form factor – 21 mm × 51 mm
  • QSPI Flash – 2MB on-board
  • Interfacing – 26 GPIO pins, including 3 analog input
  • 2 × UART, 2 × SPI controllers, 2 × I2C controllers, 16 × PWM channels
  • Integrated temperature sensor
  • Can operate in environments with temperatures between -20°C to +85°C
  • Low energy consumption
  • WiFi

The RPi has an excellent ecosystem, and if you don't need wireless connectivity, this device is for you. The VSCode environment is an excellent tool for working with this Raspberry Pi Pico. MicroPython is surprisingly amazing compared to the C programming language, especially for new programmers.

In addition to Pico W, Pico H and Pico WH are also available. In practice, these models come with a debug system.
