Last summer we (well, at least the Ploonge team) collectively lost our heads with the announcement of Palworld, a monster capture and battle game in the vein of Pokémon, but with weapons. And labor exploitation. Last weekend, developer Pocketpair released another trailer and well… it’s no less shocking.

The new trailer puts the weapons right up front, along with several “friends” that really look like imitation Pokemon like Ampharos, Umbreon, and Xerneas, among many other familiar faces. The back of the new trailer also shows off the factory scene we saw last year, as well as some disturbing new footage.

If that wasn’t worrying enough, the steam page is activeand the game description promises that you can “sell them, quarter them for food, give them hard work, loot, steal, and exercise complete mayhem, but that’s completely up to the players to make adult decisions” with the warning additional: “Just don’t get caught!”

There is still no set release date for the game developed in Japan, but the timing of this latest trailer could be due to the imminent release of Pokemon Legends: Arceus for the Switch this week. Palworld promises open world and multiplayer, two features that Pokemon players have been requesting for a long time. But time will tell if Palworld gonna itch that itch when it comes out later this year… if it doesn’t issue a cease-and-desist first.
