Running Up That Hill - Kate Bush

Catherine "Kate" Bush, CBE (Bexleyheath, July 30, 1958) is an English singer, songwriter, dancer and record producer.

The daughter of an English doctor, Robert John Bush, and an Irish nurse, Hannah Bush, she began writing songs at age eleven. She was signed to EMI Records after Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour helped finance a better quality demo. In 1978, aged 19, she topped the UK Singles Chart for four weeks with her debut single "Wuthering Heights", becoming the first female artist to reach number one on the UK Singles Chart. United with a song composed by herself. Bush has released twenty-five UK top forty singles; among them are his biggest hits, such as "The Man with the Child in His Eyes", "Babooshka", "Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)", "Don't Give Up" (with Peter Gabriel) and "King of the Mountain". Gradually, he gained artistic independence and produced all of his studio albums, starting with The Dreaming (1982). There was a hiatus between their seventh and eighth albums, The Red Shoes (1993) and Aerial (2005). In 2014, he turned the eyes of the press and the public alike again when he announced his Before the Dawn residency concert; it was the first time he had performed since 1979's The Tour of Life tour.

His eclectic and mainly experimental musical style, with unconventional lyrics and literary themes, influenced a wide variety of artists around the world. She was nominated for thirteen British Phonographic Industry Awards, winning the Brit Award for British Female Solo Artist. In addition, she was nominated for three Grammy Awards, not winning any. In 2002, the singer was honored with the Ivor Novello Awards for her outstanding contribution to British music. She was nominated for induction into the 2018 and 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She was also named Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) at the 2013 New Year Honours, for her services to music.
