What antivirus should I use on Windows and smartphone?

Good afternoon

I'm new to these wanderings can you advise which is the best antivirus for home use for Windows and smartphone.

Antonio Helder Silva

Microsoft offers users of its operating systems a security solution that can be used to ensure the necessary security for Windows.

Microsoft Defender is natively present, so it can be used right away to protect you.

When it comes to smartphones, they typically do not need any antivirus, as long as users do not engage in risky behavior.

This means installing apps only from safe sources and not clicking on suspicious links that arrive via messages or SMS.

How to connect a 3.5 floppy disk to the PC?

Dear PPLWARE Friends,

Thanks in advance for your excellent work.

The question: How can I recover data from 3.5 floppy disks? I've tried with usb drive but current computers don't recognize it. Will there be a solution?

José Gomes

Good old times!! But… what you're asking is a little nonsense! Having “3.5 floppies” and “recover” in the same sentence is something that just miraculously worked! If it started to fail, then it's a goner.

Naturally, you just want to copy the data there, assuming that the floppy disks are readable. That being the case, and there is no old computer available with a 34-pin parallel port, and the respective drive, of course, the solution can be a USB adapter.

The USB drive that you are trying to use is probably already too old for a current computer, using a recent operating system, to be able to properly install the drivers for it to work properly.

So what I suggest is that you go, for example, to Aliexpress and search for something like “floppy drive usb adapter”. For less than 10€ you can get a USB adapter compatible with at least Windows 7, something that already gives you guarantees of compatibility for Windows 10 or 11. That will be the way to do what you want.

How to connect an Apple TV to another network to have the MEO service?

Apple TV Jailbroken image

Good team!

I have an Apple TV in my house with VODAFONE fiber internet and in my restaurant I have a MEO FIBRA package with premium channels, I would like to know if it is possible to access the channels “simulating” that I am on the MEO network.

Just buy a second router capable of creating OPEN VPN server in Bridge mode? But on Apple TV there is no VPN App in your store.

If I configure the DDNS service on my router and leave the computer on, can I configure DNS on Apple TV? Or do I always need the VPN?

Best regards,

Francisco Martins

Since the MEO service only works within your network, even if it is a domestic one, Apple TV will always have to be, virtually, on this network.

This is accomplished through the use of a VPN where the destination point is MEO's network.

Therefore, and because Apple does not support the use of VPN clients, your router will have to make the connection to the MEO network.

This requires 2 things. The first is to have a server within MEO's network to receive calls. The second is that the Vodafone router or another router is able to make the connection to the other one and thus forward the traffic to this point.

Only in this way will you be able to have the MEO service at home, but with a detail that you should not fail to take into account.

All traffic from the home network will be routed to this network and may be slower.

Which 13 inch laptop should I choose?

Hello everybody.

I'm looking for a laptop with a 13.3 monitor for work.

I'm looking for one that has good processing power, for programs like SPSS and others that I can use like math lab, and that allows editing images (educational and scientific issues) and videos (the latter very occasionally).

I've researched some, but none of them have a dedicated graphics so I'm not sure which would be a good option.

For a budget of 1100 euros, is there any you can advise me?

Thank you very much.

With the most sincere regards

Luis Soares da Costa

First of all, a dedicated graphics might not be a requirement you need. Current integrated graphics, both Intel and AMD, are quite powerful for the overwhelming majority of tasks, including some games already with a considerable graphics level. So if you don't want a gaming computer, this is a requirement you don't really need.

A budget of €1100 is enough for an already very interesting range computer, which includes, for example, the MacBook Air 13.3 with the Apple M1 and 8GB of RAM.

The Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 or even a Surface Pro 8 are also within these values, not forgetting the Asus Zenbook 13 with OLED screen or the Dell Latitude 3301.

I believe that I would prefer to have a more concrete answer, with the suggestion of a specific model, but the truth is that the tight competition means that most brands are quite competent, where the available budget is usually the biggest constraint on the choice. Suggesting a specific model based on price and little else would be unfounded.

Visit your favorite store in the laptop section, filter by screen size, sort by price and use your brand preference to see what's available. Within this preference, you will already be able to see which models offer better features, more RAM and internal storage, better screen technology, better performance and better autonomy, among others.

Good choices!

Can I connect a USB network card to a Xiaomi Mi Box?

Good afternoon,

I have a Xiaomi MI Box Android and I would like to know if it is possible to connect a portable network card to the USB port?

Xiaomi's Mi Box is capable of receiving any USB connection from a network card.

Just plug in any adapter for the new network card to be detected and ready to use.

However, we warn that there are reports that this solution may not improve the connections, making them even slower.

Can I use a Windows image on another PC?

Hello everybody.

I have a system image of a computer I own that went under warranty.

The solution that was proposed to me was to exchange the equipment for a similar one, of the same brand and all, but with a slightly better processor.

Is it possible to recover the system image on this other computer? By doing so I have after installing new drivers?

Thank you very much.

With the most sincere regards

Luis Soares da Costa

In theory it is possible to do what they are proposing, that is, put an image of the system on another machine, with different hardware.

What you should be aware of is that all the drivers present will be wrong and you will have to install them manually so that the system works correctly and without problems.

Please note that Windows 10 and later licenses are associated with the hardware on which the registration was performed, and there may be a need to contact Microsoft so that the license you have works without any problem.

After this step, the system should work without any problems.
