THE Samsung launched in China a special edition of Galaxy Z Flip 3, your folding smartphone of the “flip” type (or horizontal fold). This new edition of the device, named Olympic Edition, celebrates the 2022 Winter Olympics, which will be held in Beijing a month from now. The South Korean manufacturer has been a partner of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since 1988.
OZ Flip 3 with a Gold Medal Look
THE Galaxy Z Flip 3 Olympic Edition does not bring anything new in the specs. However, it is not possible to choose the amount of storage, being sold with 256 GB (the standard model has the option of 126 GB. The change is really in its look: the folding smartphone it has a white chassis, named Winter White Dream by the manufacturer. The white (which pulls a little faint pink) is completed by the gold on the edges and hinges of the cell. The mini screen beside the rear cameras is black as in the normal version. A huge difference is in the logo of this edition of the Winter Olympics and the Olympic arches under the logo of the Samsung, in addition to the phrase “Worldwide Partner”.

THE Galaxy Z Flip 3 will only be released in China and is now available for pre-order. Just spend US$ 1,258, something around 7,142 reais. The official launch takes place on January 15th and it has not been announced if the Samsung will sell the smartphone in other countries (I wish, Sam!). Most likely, I stayed only for the Chinese market, as this edition of the Winter Olympics takes place in Beijing, marking the first time that the event lands in the country. And the little publicity of the commemorative version of the Z Flip 3 there may be another reason.
Samsung may lose product timing due to the risk of canceling the games edition
The next edition of the Winter Olympics starts on February 4th, but the advancement of the Ômicron variant of Covid-19 leaves the holding of the Olympics at risk. In case of cancellation, the Samsung may have to hold the sale of the special edition of Z Flip 3 or risk the product launch without the event that pulls visibility to the smartphone.
