Samsung will make next Galaxy devices with recycled material from fishing nets

THE Samsung is preparing for the reveal of the next handsets in the series Galaxy S22 on the 9th of February, the company’s new models will come with the best hardware available and also will be made with recycled fishing materialThe. The South Korean giant has revealed that its upcoming high-end smartphones will be made with more recycled materials, also stating the company’s plan to use these raw materials in more products.

Through an official publication, the company claims to have developed a new material made with fishing nets that are discarded in the ocean. This novelty is part of Galaxy for the Planetwhich is the company’s incentive to reduce the environmental damage of the company’s devices, in addition to encouraging a more sustainable style for its consumers.

The company’s first devices to be made with this new material from the company will be the devices Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra, but all, or nearly all, of the company’s upcoming devices will be manufactured using recycled PCM (Post-Consumer Material). But in addition to devices Galaxythe company also will use more recycled paper in its packaging.

Currently the company are looking to reduce the amount of plastic in their boxess, as well as using recycled plastic to manufacture its chargers and smart TV remote controls.

Fishing litter is one of the main pollutants in the oceans, according to studies shown by Samsung, about than 640,000 tons of fishing nets are discarded at sea per year. Because of this, combating this type of debris is very important to try to combat ocean pollution.

In addition to the South Korean giant, several other companies are investing in the use of materials derived from recycling fishing waste. An example of this was the Microsoft last year, which launched a mouse made with 20% plastic recovered from the ocean.
