Schoolbook vouchers: 3.5 million issued in just 8 days

Vouchers: 2.5 million for new books and 1 million for reused manuals

In the academic year 2021/2022, the Ministry of Education services issued 6.147 million vouchers (each book is equivalent to a "voucher"), of which 5.464 million were withdrawn by families. In total, 659 thousand students have already received "vouchers", reveals the DN.

Until yesterday, 3.5 million vouchers had already been issued: 2.5 million of which for the acquisition of new books and one million for reused manuals. Last school year, 2.3 million textbooks were reused, which corresponds "to a percentage of around 65%", reveals the newspaper.

To benefit from free school textbooks, parents must register with or through using this app Edu Rede Escolar (android, iOS). In the first access, it will be necessary to confirm the taxpayer number (NIF), and the parents must have with them the access data to the Finance Portal so that the validation can be carried out. If they do not have the data, they must request it through the Finance Portal.

Only students attending public education or private education establishments with an association contract are entitled to free textbooks. The 2022/2023 school year starts between the 13th and 16th of September.
