Chinese manufacturer Tech stated at the end of 2021 that it is developing the next generation macro telescopic lens for smartphones. At the time, the company had not shown or revealed anything about its new technology, but now it has published a video detailing the operation and construction of this new feature, which allows an optical zoom of up to 5x.

Through a video published on its official channel, the manufacturer detailed the design of compressed posterior focal length (BFL) present in the model, which also has motorized extendable lenses. Thanks to this the device must present a solution with a great possibility of lens opening and a zoom without loss of image quality, the company said it will soon introduce a concept smartphone with the technology, but in the teaser published today it only showed the camera.

The mechanisms present in the new camera from Tecno are able to extend the macro telescopic lens out of the cell phone body. According to what was revealed by the manufacturer, the model will be capable of performing a 5x optical zoom and display photo quality similar to that of the smartphone’s main camera.

Unfortunately, in the video released by the company, it only shows a little of how the new thing works, but it didn’t give any specification or a sample of the camera’s image.

We should only know more about this new lens in the coming months, when the Tech finally unveil the concept device that will come with this new camera. In addition to the specifications and quality of the photos taken by 5x optical zoom lens, it’s also worth keeping an eye on the dust solution that the company will use on the camera to protect it during use.

As pointed out by the XDA-Developers, in addition to its new macro telescopic lens a Tech has also been drawing attention for the development of its own solution for sensor-shift image stabilization. This technology, which is only used by Apple in new iPhone 13 and in the iPhone 12 Pro Max, should be released later this year and should be the first of its kind to arrive for a smartphone Android.
