The design of the Sony Inzone H9

The Inzone H9 comes in white, with two soft pillows, and are quite similar to Sony's premium WH-1000XM5. They are comfortable to wear and hold well without being too tight.

Its lightweight 330 gram frame, combined with its wireless feature, makes it easy to forget about it for a few hours of gaming.

This is helped by the headsets 360 spatial sound and excellent noise cancellation. From the moment you turn this option on, with a button conveniently located on the left side of the headphones, you may notice that the noise around you disappears.

Fan noise, the sound of traffic outside, or the hum of the air conditioner just disappear.

The whole process is indeed relaxing, but this may not be so relevant for headsets designed for indoor use. But if you really want to focus on your game without external distractions, the H9 lets you do just that.

These headphones also have an ambient mode to “let in” outside sound. This allows you to hear the doorbell, for example. Just click the noise canceling button again to toggle it.

The volume controls and buttons for turning on the headsets, noise canceling, and Bluetooth are all neatly placed on the right.

They are easy to reach, are well spaced, and just require knowing where each one is for the best experience.

Inzone Hub Application

On PC, you can customize the Inzone H9's sound profile via the Inzone Hub - simple and minimalist application.

On the "Sound profile" tab in "Sound settings", you can choose from various preset settings such as "Bass booster", "Music/Video", among other equalizer settings.

You can also manually adjust the equalizer sliders to your liking and save different profiles.

The desktop application even allows you to enable or disable noise cancellation, adjust the volume and customize the spatial sound.

Using Headsets on PS5 it's even simpler than on PC. Instead of an application, everything is controlled with the Inzone H9's buttons.

A user interface appears on the screen when adjusting the master volume or game volume and chat audio.

sound and connections

The sound the H9 emits through its 40mm neodymium conductors is rich and accurate. Ambient sounds are crisp and music (within games, from your own tracks, or from streaming playlists) is a pleasure to listen to.

These headphones come with a USB transmitter that easily connects them via a low latency (2.4GHz) wireless connection to your PC or PS5.

Like other headphones in this price range, the Inzone H9 also allow simultaneous wireless and Bluetooth 5.0 connection. You can connect to Bluetooth on your smartphone to receive calls or chat on Discord while gaming.

It's not that useful, since, anyway, we usually run a voice chat via PC or PS5, but just know that there's the option to do so in case you need to answer a call on your cell phone, but you can't interrupt your game session.

Sony Inzone H9 Microphone

Speaking of calls, the mic on the H9 is decent. This makes your voice convey well with minimal background sounds, but there are cases where it can sound tin and metallic.

While not very noticeable, it can be a little unsettling for the person on the other end.

To use the microphone, simply pull it down to speak and put it back up to deactivate it. You can hear a soft click that indicates when it's on or off - quite a nice touch.

Battery Life

Sony Inzone H9 are rated for 32 hours of use (no noise canceling) for each full charge. The duration, in practice, depends on whether you have noise cancellation or Bluetooth turned on. They can be used for two days, each day with at least 10 hours of gameplay with noise cancellation on and intermittent use of the microphone.

The H9s don't have an actual battery indicator anywhere on the headsets. The only way to get a rough idea of the battery level is through the Inzone Hub app, looking at the battery icon in the upper left corner. Even that doesn't tell you any numbers, so it's pretty much a guess.

If you run out of battery in the middle of your gaming session, you can simply charge the H9 with the supplied USB cable and keep playing. Still, the lack of a proper battery level indicator on the H9 is something Sony should fix, either with the software update or in future Inzone models.

One downside of the H9 is how can heat up after using them for hours. Due to the comfortable design of the headphones, there is a tendency for them to heat up after a while, especially if you are wearing them in hot and humid places.

Sony Inzone H9 Verdict

In short, the Sony Inzone H9 are a good wireless gaming headset that isolates the user in a world apart. This is because they have excellent noise cancellation, are well-built, lightweight and comfortable to wear. It has some potential problems - microphone could be better, battery level indicator missing, and heating up during prolonged use - as well as quite a high cost.

However, if you have around €305 to spare for some quality headsets and can ignore the problems, the Inzone H9 is certainly an excellent peripheral. to add to your setup.
