There is often a lack of overview with the many different offers on the market. Do you want one SSD it is therefore advisable to weigh which ones beforehand Reading speed necessary is. In some cases you don’t need the fastest model, in others it can be worth it.
SSD read speed: you need to know that
Although there are a multitude of different SSDs for sale everywhere, you shouldn’t just buy any one right away. Because not every SSD fits into every technical device. Some SSDs are bigger and some are smaller, so the first thing you should do is take a look at your computer or laptop. After checking which SSD fits in, you can start comparing the read speed.
SSD speeds: These are the types
The individual types of SSDs differ in their read speed from a few hundred to a few thousand megabytes per second.
The conventional, but also the slowest, SSD is the 2.5 inch SATA. It is compatible with almost every device and can transfer up to 600 megabytes per second. It is ideal for everyday use, as large video files can be moved in a few seconds. However, there are now those too M.2 SATA SSDwhich is significantly smaller and requires fewer cables. It has the same read speed as the 2.5-inch SATA and is therefore clearly the better of the simple SSDs.
It can easily be confused with the M.2 SATA SSD M.2 NVMe SSD. However, it has a lot more to offer than its predecessor. But here, too, the reading speed varies greatly from 1,000 to 7,000 megabytes per second. This means that the NVMe types are currently the fastest SSDs in the world, as they can transfer several terabytes in just a few minutes.
SSD: You need this for your use
When it comes to the question of which read speed your SSD should be equipped with, it depends entirely on your project. In general, it can be said that a 2.5-inch SATA SSD or an M.2 SATA SSD is absolutely sufficient for smaller amounts of data and less demanding programs. Installation is also uncomplicated here and does not require sophisticated knowledge.
However, if you work in gaming or edit many larger video and image files, it is worth purchasing an NVMe SSD. However, not every computer offers this function, which is why you should carefully check whether your computer accepts this SSD before buying. An NVMe SSD currently only works with a PCIe interface. In addition, the installation is a bit more complicated here.
However, there are also HDD hard drives in addition to SSDs that may also come into consideration for you. If you have decided on an SSD, we explain here how it should be installed.
