Shortly after GM formally revealed it at CES, it emerged that the $105,000 RST First Edition had already sold out. In fact, according to GM CEO Mary Barra, all these vehicles were purchased in just 12 minutes.
Barra said that the work truck variant is expected to be available in the spring of 2023, and GM plans to begin delivering the RST First Edition that fall. The regular RST starts at $39,900, although that doesn’t make it until the summer of 2024.
It’s unclear how many Silverados RST First Edition were available for pre-order, but the quick sale isn’t super surprising given the popularity of the Silverado combustion engine. There is clearly a widespread appetite for electric pickups. Ford had to abandon the F-150 Lightning due to overwhelming demand, and this week the automaker announced plans for 150,000 vehicles a year.
