Landing a jet in a strong crosswind is no joke, as any pilot (or passenger) can attest. If you boost those winds up to 60-70 MPH more, you get not only a supreme test of pilot skill, but pure YouTube entertainment. A website called Big JetTV there are more than 90,000 people watching the wrinkled action as the planes approach almost sideways, engines howling, trying to descend onto runway 27L at London Heathrow.
The commentary itself is pure entertainment, with the announcer doing his best to keep his equipment and himself from exploding. It has become a notable enough event that he is responding to requests for interviews from the BBC and other media. It can be a little difficult to watch at times and not recommended for anyone who has any qualms about flying – tune in above if you dare.
