The Chinese market today has some of the best technology in the smartphone segment exclusively. The truth is that many of the manufacturers are Chinese and choose to limit access to some products. This option is related to the production costs of some models that would not be competitive in the international market, such as the Ultra versions of Xiaomi’s top smartphones, but others also serve to test the impact with the public or to improve the product.

In the case of foldables, this is also a reality and now Vivo has also just launched its proposal, limited to the Chinese market.

Vivo X Fold - the new folding smartphone

Vivo has just introduced its first foldable smartphone, the X Fold. The X Fold has a similar design to the more popular Galaxy Z Fold from Samsung and the rest of the small competition.

The folding screen comes with 8.03 inches inside for tablet-like use. The outer screen is 6.53 inches to work like a regular smartphone screen.

The Vivo X Fold's folding screen, like the Samsung models, has a Schott-produced Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) layer, which will help with durability. Its hinge allows, according to the manufacturer, the phone to fold or be opened at angles between 60 and 120 degrees. In addition, the screen is expected to support up to 300,000 folds, which is a big increase from the 200,000 folds that Samsung announced with its latest foldable.

Both displays come with a 120Hz refresh rate and have built-in ultrasonic fingerprint sensors.

In addition to the screen, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and 4,600mAh battery stand out, which can be charged at 50W wirelessly or at 66W in traditional charging.

There are four cameras on the back, the main one being 50 MP. The ultra wide angle is 48 MP, there is also a telephoto with 2x optical zoom of 12 MP and a periscope with 5x optical zoom of 8 megapixels. Both screens have perforated selfie cameras with a resolution of 16 MP.

Vivo is preparing to enter Portugal, to reinforce its presence in the international market in a generalized way and, therefore, it is important to look at what it is developing.

Vivo X Fold will be available in China from 8,999 Chinese yuan (1,299.15 € at the current exchange rate) for the 12GB + 256GB version. There will also be a 12GB RAM and 512GB storage version for 9,999 yuan.
