ZDF has announced two new editions of the Saturday evening show “Wetten, dass..?” with moderator Thomas Gottschalk (71) for 2022 and 2023. “Information on the venue and a broadcast date will follow in the coming months,” said the announcement for the TV shows, the first of which is scheduled to take place “in the fall”. Can fans also look forward to a Mallorca edition?
Is the Mallorca show coming?
Before the comeback in November 2021, “Wetten, dass..?” was broadcast live six to seven times a year from different cities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland between 1981 and 2016. During some summer breaks, special editions from the Amphitheater Xanten, the bullfighting arena in Palma, Mallorca, were shown. The first flickered across the screens in 1999, others followed in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013.
When asked by spot on news, the broadcaster is still reticent as to whether there will be another edition from Mallorca: “Unfortunately, we can’t give any information on this yet,” says the press office. Details on the shipments would follow.
Thomas Gottschalk led the TV show from 1987 to 1992 and from 1994 to 2011. Since the successful comeback with over 14 million viewers last year, he has been firmly back in the moderation saddle of the cult format.
