YouTube: who pays the band chooses the song
More than certain, the platform’s main focus in 2022 will be the content creators, responsible for pulling the billions of views on the platform. Susan claims that YouTube expansion will be the central theme of the decisions that will take place during the year. More than that, this ecosystem made up of increasingly diverse people and initiatives, together with innovation and a positive impact on society, will guide the next steps of the platform.
In 2021, the launch of YouTube Brazil Impact Report: The platform’s economic, social and cultural contribution to the country in 2020made in partnership with Oxford Economics, clearly showed the importance that these creators have in the YouTube and also how they help to move and diversify the country’s economy.

Other YouTube Priorities in 2022 Released by Susan Wojcicki
Other revenue sources: Currently, content creators can monetize 10 different ways on YouTube. In 2022, Susan stated that she is looking forward to working with podcasts on the platform.
investments in new areas: The YouTube will continue to invest in shortsBesides music, games and shopping. THE YouTube also prepares for the news of the Web 3.0like the NFT. THE platform will still work to improve the integration of the YouTube on Smart TVs.
THE YouTube will bring more resources to the YouTube Edu in addition to supporting youtubers who work with topics of sustainability and minority and social causes. In the letter, Susan also commented on the decision to remove the dislike/dislike. “We also observed that this count [número de dislikes] harms part of the ecosystem as people intentionally increase the number of “dislike” tags on creator videos as a form of attack. These acts are usually aimed at smaller creators and those just starting out. We want all creators to be able to express themselves without being harassed. So we ran tests by removing the “dislike” button on millions of videos over several months. We couldn’t see a significant difference in views with or without the public count of “dislike” tags. And most importantly, we were able to reduce these attacks.”, explained the CEO of YouTube.
