A US charging technology provider called EV Safe Charge has unveiled its version of a mobile electric vehicle charging robot, the ZiGGY, which reserves a seat for you and subsequently charges your EV.

Discover what this innovative robot is and how it works, which will arrive in 2023.

Who needs to park near an electrical outlet or look for charging stations when a robot can you go to your vehicle and charge it?

Crucially, ZiGGY can successfully eliminate the need to install expensive and cumbersome charging stations. But it doesn't stop there, this robot has much more at its disposal.

ZiGGY can overcome the limitations of EV chargers

After charging the electric vehicles, the ZiGGY will be able to return to its home base to recharge itself thanks to various energy sources, such as grid, battery storage, and solar energy.

ZiGGY will bring EV charging to car parks, shopping and entertainment centers, hotels, and homeowners, providing cost-effective charging and overcoming the limitations of common EV chargers without the need for expensive electrical infrastructure.

Notably, the new mobile charging station comes equipped with a digital advertising server capable of creating new streams of advertising revenue, offering each installation that uses it the opportunity to display personalized, potentially monetized information.

The autonomous robot is immediately detachable and can be deployed anywhere. This also means that existing car parks do not need to undergo any type of construction to fit some ZiGGYs.

This robot was designed in collaboration with award-winning industrial design studio Box Clever. The company also contributed to the design of the robot's exterior, as well as the user experience and brand identity.

This robot can captivate non-EV users

Strong EV sales and emissions reduction targets are creating a more sustainable future, but EV infrastructure is not keeping pace.

ZiGGY is a flexible and simple solution for virtually any office, mall or apartment complex to help meet the growing needs of your tenants and guests, without costly and time-consuming investments in infrastructure and facilities, if at all possible.

In many cases, especially in older buildings, adding EV chargers is not an option until now.

Said Caradoc Ehrenhalt, Founder and CEO of EV Safe Charge and inventor of the ZiGGY, at launch.

We created ZiGGY in response to our customers' growing demand for flexible EV charging solutions, and to help support the global transition to a cleaner, greener, all-electric mobility future.

By helping drivers overcome charging anxiety, one of the barriers to mass EV adoption, ZiGGY will be able to improve the EV charging experience for everyone.

Ehrenhalt added.

ZiGGY robots can also be deployed for off-site charging if infrastructure is not available.

The company plans to lease ZiGGY robots under a "Charging-as-a-Service" (CaaS) business model, including technical support and ongoing maintenance. After production, scheduled to start in 2023, the ZiGGY will come equipped with two large screens that can be used as informational kiosks or mobile interactive advertising services, offering additional revenue options for car park operators.

It seems that charging electric vehicles a new era is starting with this mobile charging device.
